THE HOME OF Bob & Delores Hope

The Home:

This is the Palm Springs residence of Bob and Delores Hope. It is perched high in the foothills of central Palm Springs and can be seen from almost anywhere you are in Palm Springs. The home has spectacular views of the valley beneath it and is over 4000 sq feet of living space. The estate is gated with guest house, pool, spa and a unique architectural design. This is just one of many homes that Bob and Delores Hope own in California; but no doubt, it is the most famous because of its design.

The Biography:

Bob Hope, was born May 29, 1903 in Eltham, London, England, UK. His real name is Leslie Townes Hope. His parents moved to the United States in 1907. It was in 1938 that Bob appeared in his first film appearance 'The Big Broadcast' in which he sang what would become his signature tune..'Thanks for the Memory.' Who will ever forget those classic road movies Bob, Bing and Dorothy Lamour made between 1940 and 1952. One day he received a call to take his live show which was in Hollywood to Riverside California to entertain the troops at a local air force base. The reception was so overwhelming that this inspired Bob to take his show on the road and entertain troops throughout the world during World War 2, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Bob spent countless hours doing this and as a former G.I., I can tell you that having Bob Hope visit you at Christmas time with his troop of Merry Makers was, well.....you can't put a price on it and he will be forever loved for what he did. Bob has appeared in over 80 films including one with Lucille Ball which she considered her favorite..'Sorrowful Jones.'

Bob is the recipient of many prestigious awards both from the entertainment community and the United States Government. As recent as a few months ago, Congress bestowed yet another award to Bob. Also, Bob holds his annual Chrysler Classic Golf Tournament each year in January in Palm Springs, California. Through this charity event, Bob has raised millions of dollars over the years which has been disbursed to local hospital and charitable organizations.

Bob was married to Delores Reade in 1934. Bob once saw Delores singing at a cabaret and he knew from the first time that he saw her that this was the girl for him. Delores accompanied Bob on many of his road shows to entertain the troops and she has done and continues to do much charity work especially in the Palm Springs area. She is as beautiful as ever with a smile that lights up a room.

To Bob and Delores Hope....Thank you for the memories you have given to generations and your love you have shared with us!
